Benahavís, April 8, 2025. – The presentation of the seventh edition of ChefsForChildren has announced the news of the solidarity event in a ceremony held at the School of Hospitality of Benahavís and chaired by Scott Marshall, Councillor for Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Local Development, Communication and New Technologies of Benahavís; and Esperanza González Pazos, responsible for Economic and Sustainable Development of the Diputación de Málaga. Chefs Benito Gómez, from Bardal; Mario Cachinero, from Skina; Mauricio Giovanini, from Messina; David Olivas, from Back; Israel Gómez, from Mantúa; Diego del Río, from Boho Club; and Irene Hernández, from Anantara Villa Padierna; together with Marcos Granda, head waiter and sommelier of Skina, participated in the meeting, in a morning that began with a visit to the school and a didactic forum in which they shared their professional experiences to motivate the students.

All the protagonists of this call have commented in first person their experience in an initiative that, under the slogan “Eating healthy is fun”, aims to promote healthy eating through cooking workshops taught by the 65 great masters of Spanish gastronomy that the project brings together.

ChefsForChildren also has a solidarity aspect, which this year is demonstrated through its collaboration with DiabetesCERO, the leading Spanish foundation in research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that mainly affects children and whose incidence continues to rise. Every year, between 1,200 and 1,500 children under 15 years of age are diagnosed in Spain, and 1 in 42 families live with this chronic condition.

From DiabetesCERO, its general director, Sandra Campinas, has highlighted that: “For children with type 1 diabetes to participate in these gastronomic workshops is a very good opportunity to improve their relationship with food. Daily diabetes management and healthy eating go hand in hand. Eating healthy helps to keep the disease under control and thus reduce the risk of future complications. At the DiabetesCERO Foundation we want to go even further, we want to cure the disease. Having ChefsForChildren to help us raise awareness of the importance of investing in research is one more step towards a future without type 1 diabetes.
